Miranda Lambert Delivers Beautiful, Acoustic Cover Of Merle Haggard’s “My Own Kind Of Hat”

Here’s to the great Merle Haggard.

Miranda Lambert shared a beautiful cover of his song “My Own Kind of Hat” straight from her front porch on Instagram earlier, and I can’t get enough.

There’s just a special kind of magic when Miranda picks her acoustic guitar in the magical setting that is her farm outside of Nashville… I’d love her to record some sort of solo acoustic album one day, Marfa Tapes style but maybe with old classic country songs.

Anywho, “My Own Kind of Hat” was written by Merle Haggard and Red Lane, and was included as the second single from The Hag’s 1979 album Serving 190 Proof. It peaked at #4 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart.

I’ve always felt like Miranda’s twangy, pure country vocals are vastly underrated, and she sounds absolutely perfect on this song and it comes through so beautifully with this stripped-back arrangement:
