Stopped dead in its tracks.

Here at Whiskey Riff, we’ve seen several videos and pictures of deer caught up in fences after a failed attempt to leap over. Sometimes, there’s nobody there to save them, and they end up succumbing to their entrapment.

However, every now and then we run into videos of some good Samaritans out there, and this is one of them.

In this wild scene, you can see a poor doe with her back leg caught directly in between two sections of a barbed wire fence. It look broken, but it’s hard to tell for sure.

How in the world the creature managed to get stuck in that position? I have no idea, because the two sections of the fence are extremely close together. She must’ve hit it pretty hard.

You can obviously see that the doe is injured, as there’s blood on the fencing from the sharp wiring. That’s when one man walks up, and begins to work the creature’s leg out of the wiring as the doe patiently waits.

Once the man is able to loosen the tight grip the fence has on the doe, she sprints off into the distance, and while the leg looks to be flopping a bit (once again, possibly broken) she seems to run off without much of a limp.

The caption to the video reads:

“After noticing this deer hung up in a cattle fence off the highway, Cole Feterl accessed the situation carefully to be able to free the deer. This is a great example as outdoorsmen caring about the health of the herd! Great work Cole”
