Riley Green’s Unplugged Fireside Performance Of “Different ‘Round Here” Is So Damn Good

“We do things a little different ’round here…”

Riley Green’s current single at country radio “Different ‘Round Here” features his friend and fellow country star Luke Combs, but there’s somethin’ about the original version and a stripped-back arrangement that just hits different.

It was first the title track to Riley’s 2019 debut studio album as a solo song, not a duet with Combs, and was written by Riley along with Randy Montana and Jonathan Singleton.

The subject matter is right in Riley’s typical wheelhouse about being proud of where he’s from and who raised him, as it finds him reminiscing on the best parts of small town life and what makes it so special.

That version has since been certified Platinum by the RIAA, and the new duet version with Luke has done really well at country radio over the last several months, cracking the Top 5 on the Mediabase chart last week to become Riley’s third career top 5 hit at country radio.

And as part of his feature for CMT Campfire Sessions this week, Riley performed a beautiful, simple version of the song with some acoustic guitars and steel (and one electric guitar) that I can’t get enough of.

Riley tends to share acoustic versions of his own songs, and even some covers, on Instagram pretty often, and in my opinion, that’s really where he shines.

He doesn’t need a big production to pad his storytelling or twangy Alabama vocals because they stand on their own, and I’m so here for it… check it out:
