“That Cameo Helped Make The Movie A Success” – Donald Trump Claims His Short Role In “Home Alone 2” Turned It Into A Christmas Classic

Former President Donald Trump is still sending out viral social media posts, it’s just not on Twitter anymore (or X, or whatever you want to call it).

You probably remember that Trump’s removal from X being a whole thing, and it ultimately led him to create his own social media website entirely, which is called Truth Social. That’s where he’s still been sending out his thoughts, and where he recently decided to take a lot of credit for the classic Christmas film Home Alone 2: Lost in New York.

If you watched the second installment of the Home Alone franchise during the holidays, Donald Trump’s cameo is most likely fresh in your mind. Kevin McCallister is needing directions inside the New York hotel, and he just so happens to ask Donald Trump for help.

The former president is only in the film for a couple of seconds, but as he said on Truth Social, his screen time was incredibly valuable:

“30 years ago (how time flies!), Director Chris Columbus, and others, were begging me to make a cameo appearance in Home Alone 2. They rented the Plaza Hotel in New York, which I owned at the time. I was very busy, and didn’t want to do it.

They were very nice, but above all, persistent. I agreed, and the rest is history! That little cameo took off like a rocket, and the movie was a big success, and still is, especially around Christmas time. People call me whenever it is aired.”

Once Trump covered that aspect (that he didn’t really want to do the movie, then he did, and it was big), he shifted gears and confronted the idea that he bullied himself into the cameo, according to the film’s director in a recent interview.

The director of the film (whose name is, yes, Christopher Columbus) said in a 2020 interview with Business Insider that Trump would only allow for them to shoot the film in his hotel if they included him in the movie in some way. Donald simply wasn’t having that, and responded in his Truth Social post:

“Now, however, 30 years later, Columbus (what was his real name?) put out a statement that I bullied myself into the movie. Nothing could be further from the truth. That cameo helped make the movie a success, but if they felt bullied, or didn’t want me, why did they put me in, and keep me there, for over 30 years?

Because I was, and still am, great for the movie, that’s why! Just another Hollywood guy from the past looking for a quick fix of Trump publicity for himself!”

And let’s be real here, the second Home Alone was good, but didn’t even touch the first one. If I’m settling in to watch a Christmas movie, I’d rather press play on the original than the sequel 9 times out of 10.

Even though Donald Trump made Home Alone 2 so much better…with his six second cameo:
