It’s always a treat when a modern day country artist that you love covers an all time great.

To celebrate Willie Nelson’s 90th birthday, a ton of country music’s greatest stars got together at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles to cover some of Shotgun Willie’s greatest hits. We’re talking about the likes of Billy Strings, Chris Stapleton, Charley Crockett, Jamey Johnson, Miranda Lambert, Dwight Yoakam, George Strait, Tyler Childers, Sheryl Crow, Margo Price, Kris Kristofferson, Lyle Lovett, and so many more.

Even Dave Matthews, Leon Bridges, Beck, Keith Richards, The Avett Brothers, and Snoop Dogg had to join in on the fun as well.

With that being said, the live album from this epic concert officially dropped today, titled Long Story Short: Willie Nelson 90 (Live At The Hollywood Bowl). There are so many incredible covers on this live album it’s impossible to count. However, but one in particular that really sticks out to me is Tyler Childers’ cover of Willie’s hit song “Time of the Preacher.”

In this impressive cover, Childers shows off his insane, raspy vocal range once again, all to the wail of a steel guitar in the background.

Of course, just about anything Childers touches turns to gold, so there’s really no surprise here.
