In the eternal debate of “who’s better, cats or dogs,” cats always seem to get a bad wrap.
Sure, dogs are generally more excited to see you when you get home, and are probably astronomically better at listening and responding to commands, but you’ve got to give some credit to cats. They sleep for hours on end, go through life not wanting to be bothered, and usually eat food whenever they want. Tell me that’s not living the dream?
I’d also love to see a dog try to ring a doorbell to let their owners know that they want back inside. It’s a cat’s world, and we’re all just living in it, and now that they appear to be figuring out Ring Doorbell cameras, we might as well start giving them keys to the house.
This video, which has gone viral on TikTok, shows a smart cat utilizing the video doorbell to signal that their outside time is over. The cat jumps up on a small table on the front porch, stands up on its hind legs, stuffs its face and whiskers into the camera, and taps the doorbell button with its paw.
Once it hears that the ring went off, it sits back down on the table and puts out a couple of “meows” for good measure as it patiently waits for its owner to come and open the door for them. The owner was shocked by the video when they checked it to see who was at their door, and decided to share the hilarious footage on TikTok with the caption:
“Nobody taught him how to do that. I don’t know where he learned.”
And if you thought that it was maybe just a stroke of luck, or even an accident that the cat rang the doorbell, the owner posted another video of their smart pet to let the world know that it had really figured out the art of ringing the doorbell.
Shoutout to Ring Doorbells (not a sponsor) for allowing us to see videos like this one:
