Today, I’m Thankful For Miranda Lambert’s Gorgeous Acoustic Rendition Of “Waxahachie”

I didn’t know this song could get any better…

But I need Miranda Lambert to record a fully acoustic rendition of her fan-favorite song “Waxahachie” now.

She co-wrote the tune with her friends and frequent collaborators Jon Randall (also her new fellow record label executive) and Jack Ingram, and ever since the first time I heard it on their stripped-back project The Marfa Tapes, it’s been one of my all-time favorite Miranda songs.

She later included a studio version with full production on her Palomino album, and yesterday, she shared a little acoustic video playing it on the porch, saying in the caption that she’s:

“Always thankful for blue jeans and 6 strings.”

Fair enough…

The opening lines of the song, “nobody ever left New Orleans as mad as I was, I wrote a lipstick letter on the mirror with a bourbon buzz,” get me every time, and it was actually my top-played song on Apple Music last year if that gives you any indication of how much I listened to it in 2022.

And while the headline of this post might be feel slightly hyperbolic and frivolous on this Thanksgiving holiday, as I’m thankful for a lot more substantial things and people in my life, I sure do love the hell outta this song, too…
