There’s been no shortage of somewhat disappointing news surrounding Shania Twain for a while now, but that doesn’t take away anything from this country music legend.
Sadly, a lot of people (including my cousin) have recently gone to a Shania concert were very disappointed with her performance, some examples being her Nashville concert, Seattle show, and a butchered duet of the Foo Fighter’s hit “Best Of You” at Austin City Limits festival.
Granted, Shania has long battled Lyme disease which will affect one’s vocal chords, and she ultimately retired for a number of years before she recently took to touring again. There were also a number of fans who absolutely loved these shows and didn’t see anything wrong with them, but it appears clear that she no longer has the fire power she once did… and fair enough, that’s really to be expected.
At 58 years old, Shania has been a dominant force in the industry since at least 1995, and while the music was always the focus, there’s no denying that she was an international sex symbol as well.
In fact, the ancient Greeks used the “Golden Ratio” to determine optimal beauty. It’s basically a formula that suggests there is a proper ratio of distance between your eyes, your nose, your mouth… all your facial features, and according to a study by the University of Toronto, Shania Twain has the “perfect face.”
But science aside, what Cowboys fan didn’t have this poster on their bedroom door in the ’90s?
She’s even recalled being dubbed “America’s Best Paid Lap Dancer” early in her career and used those looks to create one of the most iconic moments in CMA History when she flirted with Johnny Cash, Tim McGraw, Travis Tritt, and many more stars while performing “Any Man Of Mine.”
For her part, she was always open about how she presented herself and knew what she was doing.
During an interview in 1996, when she was 31 years old, acknowledged the fact that she wouldn’t still be wearing crop tops, and bringing the full throttle energy, when she was 60 years old.
“I mean, let’s face it, when I’m 60 years old I’m not gonna be up there with a crop top, you know, with the same type of energy that I have right now to perform”

Obviously, that’s a fair point, but if there’s one thing we still absolutely have to credit her with it’s still going for it less than 2 years away from her 60th birthday, and that includes still rocking the iconic crop top look and being high energy on stage.
I mean, come on, how many other 58 year old women do you know that can do this and rock these outfits?
Credit where it’s due, Shania is still giving it her all. Sure, it’s not quite like it was back in the ’90s, but is anything?
I’d say Shania is doing pretty damn good.
