THIS is why Chris Stapleton is one of the best in the business.

With only two days till the release of his highly-anticipated fifth studio album Higher, Stapleton took to the CMA Awards stage at Bridgestone Arena tonight and showed the crowd exactly why he’s nominated for Entertainer of the Year.

Joined with his bride Morgane on tambourine, he absolutely blew the roof off Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee.

Like we said on Twitter, thank goodness for performers like Chris Stapleton.

With his outlaw country sound and killer band, Chris Stapleton is a shining moment during the awards show thus far. And personally I can only hope that later in the evening we see Stapleton take home the Entertainer of the Award later this evening. After being nominated seven times, it’s about damn time he takes one home.

He is also in the running for taking home his seventh Male Vocalist of the Year, and after hearing how spot-on his live performances are, it shows why he has already won it six other years.

The internet agrees with how stellar this performance was.

This user is onto something. Chris Stapleton noted on the red carpet he doesn’t make music to win awards; he makes music to make his audience feel something…just as he did tonight.
