Jason Aldean Speaks On “Feud” With Maren Morris: “So Far Off My Radar At This Point”

We all know that Jason Aldean and Maren Morris probably aren’t going to be exchanging Christmas cards any time soon.

The feud between Aldean and Morris actually started last year when Aldean’s wife, Brittany, shared a video to Instagram of her trying some of her beauty products with the caption:

“I’d really like to thank my parents for not changing my gender when I went through my tomboy phase. I love this girly life”

The post garnered a number of likes and comments with Jason responding:

“Lmao!! I’m glad they didn’t too, cause you and I wouldn’t have worked out.”

She received a number of positive comments and likes from Lara Trump, the wife of Donald Trump’s son Eric, RaeLynn, Summer Pardi, and more.

However, the post didn’t go over quite so well for the likes of other country artists, including Cassadee Pope, who shared to Twitter:

“You’d think celebs with beauty brands would see the positives in including LGBTQ+ people in their messaging.

But instead here we are, hearing someone compare their ‘tomboy phase’ to someone wanting to transition. Real nice.”

Maren Morris then responded to Pope’s tweet, calling Brittany Aldean “Insurrection Barbie.”

“It’s so easy to, like, not be a scumbag human? Sell your clip-ons and zip it, insurrection Barbie.”

Brittany then responded on her Instagram story, tagging Maren Morris in a post calling her “Karen Morris” and thanking her for calling her Barbie:

Jason then jumped into the fray, commenting on one of Brittany’s Instagram posts calling her “MY Barbie”:

The drama also resulted in Maren saying that she didn’t know if she would attend the CMA Awards last year, saying that she doesn’t feel comfortable going and that she felt like defending country music is like being in an abusive relationship.

(Though after all that she still ended up going to the awards ceremony).

Amidst the feud, Jason also gave Maren a special shoutout during his show at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville: While teasing a special guest, Aldean began naming some of his “friends” in Nashville that he thought about calling to join him onstage for the show:

“I though man, who could I call? I got some friends in town…

I could call Luke Bryan. I could call Kane Brown. See if Kenny Chesney’s here and not at the beach.”

He then named Maren Morris, which brought out a loud chorus of boos from the crowd at Bridgestone Arena.

Things died down for a while between the two, but heated back up after Jason released “Try That In A Small Town” earlier this year. The song and video drew outrage from some who condemned it as “racist” and a “dog whistle,” with people saying that the song evoked the “sundown towns” that restricted the movements of black people during segregation.

And of course Maren couldn’t resist taking a shot at Aldean while teasing new music with a post featuring a billboard that was an apparent shot at “Try That In A Small Town,” with the message:

“Welcome to our perfect small town: from sunrise to sundown.”

Maren has since announced that she’s leaving country music, saying that she can’t “participate in the toxic arms of this institution” any longer, and that the genre is “burning itself down” without her help.

And in a recent interview with the Los Angeles Times, Jason was asked about his feud with Maren Morris, and his show at Bridgestone Arena where he joked that she would be joining him on stage.

But according to Jason, the whole “feud” isn’t something he’s worried about – because he doesn’t even know Maren personally.

“The stuff with her is so far off my radar at this point. I’ve never talked to her for more than probably 10 seconds. So I don’t really have an opinion about her.”

Jason says the only reason he even jumped in was because Maren publicly attacked his wife:

“The only thing I knew was that she was coming after my wife in the media. Obviously, her and I are on completely different ends of the spectrum as far as our beliefs. But I don’t know her at all, truly.”

And he also says it’s odd that somebody who doesn’t even know the couple has so much to say about them for some reason:

“That’s what was so weird for me: This chick’s coming after us, and I’ve never even talked to her before. Yet she claimed to know so much about me and my wife somehow.”

I guess we’ll have to see if Maren responds to these latest comments from Aldean, or whether she’s too busy dealing with other things in her personal life.
