San Francisco 49ers QB Brock Purdy Worked On A Farm In Iowa During Team’s Bye Week

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy was already known as “Mr. Irrelevant,” though he’s quickly shed that nickname after his incredible start since winning the starting QB job.

But it looks like he could also be given the nickname “Farmer Purdy” after his bye week activities.

If you weren’t aware of the underdog story that has been Brock Purdy’s NFL career, the talented QB was chosen with 262nd pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, which is the last pick.

Those who are chosen with that pick are usually labeled as “Mr. Irrelevant,” but Purdy has been anything but that in his young professional football career.

Up until a couple of weeks ago, Purdy had never lost a regular season game in the NFL, which is just a baffling statistic. The streak started last year and continued into the beginning of this season, but has since been broken during the 49ers three-game losing streak.

Instead of including some sort of infographic about the impressive run, I’ll instead just use a meme (that you’ve probably seen all over your social media feeds) to describe the run that “Mr. Irrelevant” was on:

But like I said, Purdy and the 49ers have been in somewhat of a skid the last three weeks after starting the season with five straight wins. San Francisco now goes into their bye week with a record of 5 wins and 3 losses, with many critics saying that they aren’t as good of a team as many first thought.

Say what you want about the 49ers, because their starting quarterback isn’t going to hear about it. He’s been too busy during his bye week farming on his fiancée’s family farm in Iowa.

I’ll admit, I was on the fence about Brock Purdy, but this bit of information has swayed me into liking him. Another recent story about the star quarterback still living with roommates despite being a starting QB in the NFL also added to the list of “reasons to like Purdy” as well.

Purdy and his fiancé Jenna Brandt got engaged back in July, and though “Mr. Irrelevant” and his future wife could have spent his bye week relaxing in San Francisco, they instead went back to Sumner, Iowa to spend some time on Brandt’s family farm.

As you can see in this picture:

That picture wasn’t just for a photo op, because Purdy was actually put to work by his future in-law’s and was behind the wheel of the John Deere parked behind them in the picture.

Just as Purdy is usually directing his offense, in the video below, the NFL QB was directing the “Big Green Tractor” in order to help out with conclusion of Iowa’s harvest season.

The clip was initially uploaded to his fiancé’s Instagram story, but was then also posted to the X account below with the caption:

“Don’t mind Brock, he’s just helping out on the future in-law’s farm during his bye week.”

He’s definitely earning some brownie-points from his in-law’s, if being a starting NFL QB wasn’t enough…

San Francisco fans will be happy to see that Purdy isn’t doing anything too crazy during his off-week, and probably wouldn’t mind for him and the 49ers to “harvest some wins” once they get back into action.
