Philadelphia Flyers goalie Carter Hart is wearing an incredible Johnny Cash-inspired mask this season, and it’s one of the most badass things I’ve ever seen
The work was done by artist Franny Drummond, AKA PaintZoo, who has done plenty of other intricate custom masks, including Carter’s mask last year, which featured members of the Foo Fighters including frontman Dave Grohl and the late Taylor Hawkins.
In some photos shared by photographer Katelynn Reiss on Instagram, you can see Carter wearing it in-action on the ice, apparently choosing Cash this year because he “just loves him”:
“Why Johnny Cash this year? Carter just loves him.”
Based on this year and last year’s masks alone, I think it’s safe to say Carter has pretty good taste in music, and it’s easily the coolest mask in the NHL this season:
