Not only does his Christmas album, Merry Christmas From Jon Pardi, releasing on Friday, but he also becomes an official member of the Grand Ole Opry. Quite a duo of events if you ask me.
The multi-Grammy Award winning artist released his tracklist for this first-ever holiday album today, and based on some of the song names, I am stoked to give this one a listen (and am anticipating a few of these will be added to Whiskey Riff’s Country Christmas Songs That Don’t Suck playlist).
The twelve-song album features a cover of the legendary “All I Want For Christmas Is You,” but the rest of the tracks align with the “Christmas with a beer” description Pardi gave the project.
Pardi further described the vibe of the album, detailing:
“I did go through a lot more pop songs and other stuff. I can’t give it away because I was really detailed in what we’re recording. But we’re not singing ‘Silent Night’ or ‘O Holy Night’ or any boring-ass Christmas songs.
It’s very up-tempo and fun. I feel like there’s all kinds of weird Christmas songs that everybody does. It’s a merry Christmas party.”
In addition to the album coming out, Pardi is hosting a Christmas party and concert at the Beacon Theatre in New York City on December 16th.
Can’t make the trip to the Big Apple? No worries, Jon Pardi was also just announced to perform during the Opry Country Christmas show on November 26th, making it his performance as an active Opry member.
A week full of celebrating is called for in the Pardi household. I know we can’t wait to hear the album and are beyond excited to see Jon Pardi’s name added to the wall of plaques at the Grand Ole Opry.
