Same, ducks, Same.
I can’t tell you how many times in my life I’ve done something similar to this. I’ll admit, it’s usually walking out into the blistering summer heat and saying “nope” then promptly returning to the cool embrace of air conditioning, but it’s the same vibe.
I’m sure there are a lot of people that feel the same way these ducks do about winter. Some people love the snow, some people hate it, and some people really hate it. That last category of people usually live in Florida or Arizona.
This flock of ducks in the video appear to be confused more than anything, and it’s possible they’ve never experienced snow before. They seem to be pretty well off considering that they have a duck house? If that’s a thing…
To me, the ducks running out into the snow and then quickly saying “hey, this is cold, let’s go back inside” screams black and white, silent film comedy.
Couldn’t you imagine this video set to zany orchestra music and it absolutely killing at a theatre in the 1920’s? All it’s really missing is Charlie Chapman.
The whole thing definitely appears to be an example of “herd mentality,” though it’s possible that they were all just agreeing in unison that the snow was too cold for their liking. Regardless, the clip is hilarious, and relatable as we inch closer to the icy grip of winter.

Pretty much everyone on X (formerly Twitter) understood how the ducks in this video were feeling, and left their commentary in the reply section below:

First of all, great video! 🤣🤣🤣
Looks like typical swarm behavior. It follows simple rules based on the behavior of their nearest neighbors. Their collective behavior arises from the interactions of individual members.
But who got cold first? 🤣
