Love him or hate him, Nick Saban is a staple of college football and will always be thought of as one of the greatest coaches to ever do it.

One could argue that the changing landscape of college sports and NIL is allowing for other college football teams to “catch up” with Alabama.

Saban’s Crimson Tide has long been a force to be reckoned with, and has one won National Championships in 2009, 2011, 2012, 2015, 2017 and 2020. If you look up “dynasty” in the dictionary, it would probably just say “see: Nick Saban’s Alabama football teams.”

However, the Crimson Tide have faced a number of very talented teams in the past two seasons that have led to Saban’s squad suffering losses, and the latest “L” on the schedule was provided by the Texas Longhorns last weekend.

The game was as competitive as you could ever ask for, but the Longhorns eventually pulled away and stole the game that took place at Tuscaloosa 34 to 24. Thus, the Crimson Tide take a hit early on in their 2023-2024 campaign, which is already causing some Alabama fans to jump ship.

Nick Saban hasn’t backed down from the noise, and has still participated in all of his media responsibilities this week after the loss. Alabama’s head coach stopped by The Pat McAfee Show to speak about the loss, and he also stayed loyal to his weekly radio show (which makes about $11 million a year).

Anyone that has listened in knows that one caller named “Peewee” always stays on top of Saban, even if they win. Peewee obviously called in to talk to the leader of the Crimson Tide about their loss, first asking:

“Coach, how are you sir?”

Nick Saban was clearly ready for his weekly battle with Peewee, and decided he would turn the tables on the Alabama super-fan. Saban fired back and seemingly took the role of Peewee, saying:

“Well, Peewee, I’ve been wanting to talk to you all week man. I mean we gotta firm up the pocket, we’re sitting too soft, we’re getting pushed back in the middle.

Everybody thinks we can’t hold up against the blitz, but they’re sacking us with four man rushes, one three man rush. Only one sack came off of a pressure. So I wanted to ask you what the hell is going on?”

Saban’s response was met with an uproar of laughter from the live audience, and it clearly caught Peewee off guard. The reoccurring caller got a kick out of it too, saying:

“Well, I believe you covered it all right there.”

We’re all used to seeing Coach Saban in “serious, have to win” mode, so it’s nice to see him cut loose like this and have some fun.
