The Internet Is Outraged That The Illinois State Fair Butter Cow Isn’t Entirely Made Out Of Butter

I can’t believe it’s not butter…

There aren’t many things in this world that are sacred and true, but one thing we as a country could always fall back on was the Illinois State Fair butter cow sculpture. It doesn’t matter how much else is going wrong across the nation, as long as the butter cow is carefully crafted and shaped year after year, we know everything is going to be okay.

But now, in a shocking revelation, people all across the world are finding out a horrible, wicked secret about the Illinois state farm staple. If you were like the rest of us, you assumed that if they said it was a butter sculpture, the whole thing was made out of butter. That is surprisingly and sadly not the case…

Turns out that the world renowned butter cow sculpture depends on a mesh wire system underneath the butter to help hold the mold, and though I completely understand why they would do that, it still hurts for some odd reason. I can’t believe its a mesh wire system that helps give the cow its shape, because I formerly believed that it was all butter.

Take a look:

Whoever posted the picture of people deconstructing the butter cow had no idea the impact it would have on society. Social media has been flooded with outrage by individuals like myself who feel like they were deceived by what they were passing as a “butter sculpture.”

Sure, the thing is still impressive knowing there is a wire base, but it definitely takes away from the sculpture’s aura. Below are just some of the replies that X (formally known as Twitter) users have left below the picture of the butter cow being dismantled:
