Well this definitely won’t suck.

Netflix has been absolutely killing it with the sports docuseries lately, going all the way back to their Formula 1: Drive to Survive series that debuted in 2020 and shot the motorsports series into the mainstream here in the United States.

Since then, the streaming service has also debuted the popular Quarterback series featuring several NFL quarterbacks on their hunt for the Super Bowl, as well as the recent Untold series which recently featured Johnny Football, an in-depth look at Johnny Manziel’s rise and fall in the NFL, and will soon be joined by Swamp Kings, a must-watch series on the Tim Tebow and Urban Meyer era of the Florida Gators.

For sports fans, Netflix is pumping out better content than ESPN right now, and it’s not really close.

And NASCAR fans now have their own show to look forward to.

Netflix announced today that a new series is in the works that will tell the story of the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series playoffs. The yet-to-be-named docuseries will follow the 16 drivers in the playoffs over the final 10 races of the season as they chase the championship trophy, and comes on the heels of the 2022 series Race for the Championship which aired on USA Network.

The new series will also be co-produced by one of the biggest names in NASCAR, Dale Earnhardt Jr., who since retiring from behind the wheel has built up possibly the most influential brand in NASCAR media with his company, Dirty Mo Media. And joining Dale Jr. as producers on the series will also be the team behind the ESPN docuseries The Last Dance, which chronicled the career of NBA legend Michael Jordan and his final season with the Chicago Bulls.

Filming has already begun on the new NASCAR show as the Cup Series gets ready for its final regular season race at Daytona this weekend before the playoffs start on September 3 at Darlington Raceway.

As a NASCAR fan I’ve just been waiting for the sport to capitalize on something like this in the way that F1 did with their series, so I can’t wait to watch this one when it comes out.

The series will premiere on Netflix in early 2024, so we won’t have to wait long after the season wraps before it drops.

And I can already tell you I’ll be binging this one when it comes out.
