However, it appears that Baldwin could be in hot water again with the law after some bombshell new evidence.
According to the New York Post, experts in ballistics and forensic testing based in Arizona and New Mexico released a report yesterday, examining the Colt .45 revolver used on set, and the markings it left on a spent cartridge.
The results of the examination show that the trigger of the gun had to be either pulled or depressed, meaning that Baldwin most likely pulled the trigger whether it was an accident or not.
The report led by Lucien Haag of Forensic Science Services in Arizona reads:
“Although Alec Baldwin repeatedly denies pulling the trigger, given the tests, finding and observations reported here, the trigger had to be pulled or depressed sufficiently to release the fully cocked or retracted hammer of the evidence revolver.
This fatal incident was the consequence of the hammer being manually retracted to its fully rearward and cocked position followed, at some point, by the pull or rearward depression of the trigger.”
New Mexico special prosecutor Kari Morrissey said in a Tuesday email that a formal announcement will be made about if there will be any new charges filed against Baldwin.
Baldwin has maintained over the past two years that the revolver discharged accidentally, and that he did not pull the trigger after he was told to point it towards Hutchins.
He said that he pulled back the hammer, but not the trigger, and the discharge ultimately killed Hutchins back on October 21st, 2021.
I guess we’ll see if there’s any more charges that come of this.
