You’d be hard-pressed to find two ladies who have done more for modern-day country music than Carrie Underwood and Miranda Lambert.
For almost two decades now, they’ve been at the forefront of mainstream country, doin’ things their way all while topping the charts, winning Grammy awards, and inspiring fans all over the world.
And of course, they teamed up in 2014 for a single that at the time, became the first number one by two solo women artists in over two decades.
“Somethin’ Bad” was written by Chris DeStefano, Brett James, and Priscilla Renea and was the second single released from Miranda’s fifth studio album, Platinum.
The song was an instant hit and climbed the charts quickly, peaking at number one on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs and remaining on the chart for 25 weeks. It ended the year at number 10.
And part of what I love so much about them is how they don’t just talk the talk, they walk the walk, so to speak…
Carrie recently launched a brand new year-round SiriusXM channel called Carrie’s Country, she spoke very highly about her friend Miranda and pretty much just how damn badass she is.
She added that she has “so much respect” for everything her “sister” has accomplished, noting that she loves so much how Miranda has never deviated from who she is or allowed anyone to put her in a box.
I think it’s safe to say in this scenario, real recognizes real, and I’m sure Miranda probably feels similarly about Carrie:
“I have so much respect for her and the things that she’s accomplished, the songs she writes, the songs she chooses. We’re sisters in this together, man. I hope she knows I’m always in her corner; I think she’s always in mine.
I’m proud to see us still kickin’ it after all these years. I love her and I really respect that she is who she is, and has never deviated from that.
And she’s never tried to fit anybody else’s box that they might try to put her in. She does what she wants, I respect that very much.”

I actually have been listening to Carrie’s new channel basically exclusively on Sirius since it launched about a week and a half ago, because it’s pretty much a perfect blend of classic country, some more modern country, and a helluva lot of great rock and roll.
Carrie clearly has superb taste, and is even going to join her favorite rock bands Guns N’ Roses for a few select shows this August, which I’m sure will be a fantastic time.
And speaking of “Somethin’ Bad,” when are we gonna get another Carrie and Miranda duet? I need more of this…
