NASCAR Driver Cody Ware Facing Additional Assault Charges Following Domestic Abuse Arrest

Cody Ware

Cody Ware’s ugly fall from grace continues to worsen, with more charges surfacing against the race car driver.

He was already suspended by NASCAR indefinitely after he was arrested on separate counts of felony assault by strangulation and misdemeanor assault on a female. After facing the original charges on April 10th, he posted the $3,000 dollar bail.

Now, only four days after the initial reports, Ware has turned himself back in to the Iredell County Detention Center in North Carolina, according to reports from the center.

According to The Athletic, the NASCAR driver is now facing additional misdemeanor charges relating to the original domestic assault report following further investigation. His bond is now set at $5,000 dollars as he faces the charges of communicating threats and assault inflicting serious injury.

All charges stem from an original report back on April 3rd, when a 9-1-1 call from a female informed police of the domestic abuse. According to Iredell Free News, it was stated in Ware’s warrant for arrest that the victim suffered:

“A displaced fracture of the base of the fifth metacarpal bone.”

Cody Ware announced he would be stepping away from NASCAR for “personal reasons” back on April 8th, two days before his initial arrest.

Ware is reported to be cooperating with authorities and will be required to wear an ankle brace once he posts bail.

Following the unexpected criminal activity surrounding the race car driver, a Twitter user decided to “meme” the incident, comparing it to another shocking story involving a high-profile public figure:
