Ryan Reynolds Trolls Rob McElhenney On His Birthday With Over The Top Song About How To Pronounce His Name

Ryan Reynolds

The more you know.

If you aren’t too familiar with the name Rob McElhenney, he’s the guy who plays Ronald “Mac” McDonald in It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and also Ian Grimm on the AppleTV+ comedy series Mythic Quest.

And on top of that, he’s also the co-owner of the Welsh football club Wrexham A.F.C., which he bought alongside fellow actor Ryan Reynolds back in 2020.

But speaking of McElhenney, I can imagine it has probably been hell on earth for the guy when it comes to people trying to pronounce his last name correctly.

I mean c’mon, there’s probably a million different combinations of how you “could” say his last name. However, there is only one correct one…

And his buddy Ryan Reynolds is here to help us out.

McElhenney turned 47 today, and for his birthday, Reynolds dropped a hilarious song and video all about the correct way to pronounce his last name.

He posted it to social media, saying:

“A birthday card might’ve been easier. Happy birthday.”

And if you wanted any spoilers, it’s correctly pronounced like this:

“MAC-EL-HEN-KNEE”

Mackle like tackle, and henny like penny…

Anyways, McElhenney hilariously responded to the tweet by saying:

“This is…. I mean… I don’t… Wow.”

So, will this fix the problem? Nah, probably not.

People will still probably butcher his name until the cows come home, but at least we all have a reference now.
