Morgan Wallen Honors The Great Keith Whitley With Latest ‘One Record At A Time Sessions’ Performance

Morgan Wallen country music

Still amid a weekend filled with Morgan Wallen.

Like most of America, I have been making my way through Morgan Wallen’s 36-track album, One Thing At A Time, since its release Friday. Including live streaming the concert he did in Nashville following the album release.

On the first listen-through, it hits all the aspects of Wallen’s sound on the head. The highly anticipated album has been a massive success among his fans, already generating record-breaking numbers.

It has been wild to watch it all unfold.

Outside of the album, he released a lot of visual aspects on YouTube. With lyric videos up for nearly every song, he has also sprinkled in Easter eggs of studio session performances titled “One Record At A Time Sessions.”

One of the videos released is a stellar performance of “Keith Whitley,” which Wallen had teased to his fans leading up to the album drop.

“Sittin here waiting on the sun in a deer blind. Here’s a new one.”

He wrote in an Instagram caption on January 6th.

It is no secret that I LOVE a good tribute to the greats that paved the way for artists today, and this song is an excellent memoir of the great Keith Whitley. Right now, it is sitting as an album favorite for me.

The lyrics noting some of Whitley’s greatest hits like “Miami, My Amy,” “No Stranger To The Rain,” and “Kentucky Bluebird,” Wallen did a great job of paying tribute through the word-play.

The session is simple and shot perfectly, with the band sitting all around Wallen for an intimate concert setting.

This is an amazing visualizer for the song, and I look forward to seeing more of the songs from this session.

He also released the performance of “Dying Man.”
