Morgan speaks.

On the heels of his ex-wife and fellow country singer Kelsea Ballerini releasing her Rolling Up The Welcome Mat EP earlier this month on Valentine’s Day, which included a short film to go along with the songs speaking directly about their divorce, Morgan Evans is putting out his own docuseries.

In case you’ve missed all the drama, Kelsea also recently made an appearance on Alexandra Cooper’s very popular Call Her Daddy podcast to talk about all the details of their breakup, including their disagreement over having kids, as well as many other things that happened throughout out their almost five-year marriage.

She was also accused of cheating on him with The Chainsmokers’ Drew Taggart, though nothing has been confirmed, and needless to say, it’s getting really messy.

And today, Morgan released five episodes of his new series detailing everything that happened with his single “Over For You,” which was written in direct response to the divorce last fall, which he claims he was “blindsided” by, but Kelsea refuted in the aforementioned podcast interview.

Notably, he takes you behind the scenes of the first time he ever played the song, which was directly in the wake of the very public divorce announcement and quickly went viral online.

On September 24th, 2022, Morgan played for first time in front of 22,000-plus people back home in Australia, saying it had been a “wild” journey and this was easily the most personal song he’d ever written or played:

“I don’t know if you’ve heard or not yet, but it’s been a pretty wild few weeks for me. I wrote a song last week, I thought I’d play it for you.

This song is the most personal thing I’ve ever written, and the most personal thing I’ve ever shared. And it feels… like scares the shit out of me.

It’s interesting when you share something that’s the most personal thing you’ve ever shared, that so many other people can relate to it.

I felt like I told it in the most honest, real, and most positive way possible. That’s the only song I’ve written since going through all this shit, and it felt like channeling all that sort of, awfulness, in to something positive.”

The rest of the episodes detail his 2022 musical journey, which takes you along in Australia and New Zealand, including CMC Rocks QLD Festival, where he debuted the single.

Interestingly, Morgan also talked about what it was like to have that song go so viral, saying he was “paralyzed” by it and not knowing when he should release the studio version, or if that would tarnish the magic of it, and he ultimately put it out in October of 2022.

The series was directed by Peter John, and allows fans some really interesting insight into Morgan’s side of the story and his feelings about everything.

Up until now, he’s been pretty quiet about it all, and only released a couple very short statements about the divorce on his social media pages.

We’ll see how, or if, Kelsea responds to this, but it’s hard to know if Morgan’s docuseries is really a direct answer to her EP, because he’s clearly been filming it since last year.

Still, the timing is nothing if not coincidental, but there’s two sides to every story, as the old saying goes, and Morgan is ready to tell his.
