Kelsea Ballerini is ready to tell her side of the story.

On the heels of her divorce from fellow country singer Morgan Evans last year, she sat down with Alexandra Cooper on the very popular Call Her Daddy podcast to open up about the details she’s been pretty quiet about until recently.

The full episode airs tomorrow, but they put out a teaser today, and it sounds like she’s going to be spilling quite a few details about their pretty private marriage.

She told Alex that they had a fight before the CMA’s one year (according to her new project, it was in 2019), and she wound up sleeping on the couch:

“There were separations, there was years of couples therapy. There was like, many a night of sleeping on the couch.

I don’t think it was the first night, but it was a night where I was like, this is not what I want.

I slept on the couch the night before the CMAs and I remember I went to rehearsal at the arena and texting him and being like, ‘I’ll just see you at the carpet.'”

When asked specifically why she felt she needed to do that, she said there was an overwhelming feeling of “disconnection” between them:

“There was just such a sense of disconnection. We hadn’t seen each other, there was a lack of effort to see each other. I was getting resentful because any time we did see each other, I felt like I was carrying that load, and I was tired.

I was just tired of showing up in that way all the time and not feeling like I was seen or matched. And then I was also tired from like, traveling all the time and giving so much of myself because that’s what I want to do to honor my career, too.

And I think I just felt really depleted and not understood.”

She also added this zinger about Morgan reportedly taking “half the house that he didn’t pay for”:

“As he’s putting out a song about being blindsided, he’s taking half the house that he didn’t pay for.

How was I married to this person for this long and I had no idea that that bit of character was tucked within that human being?”

And Morgan shared this statement earlier tonight, seemingly in response to the episode coming out soon, saying he wished it wasn’t being put out so publicly in this setting and format:

“It’s really sad for me to see this person, who I spent so much of my life with, and loved with all my heart, saying things that aren’t reality that leave out what really happened.

She knows I’m not the type of guy to speak on those things publicly. If this is what she needs to heal, I hope it helps.

All I ask is that if you’re on pages, please don’t be mean. Don’t be mean to Kelsea, don’t be mean to each other. Life’s too short.”

Sounds like he probably isn’t too thrilled about all of their dirty laundry being aired out for the world to hear about…

Kelsie just dropped a new Rolling Up The Welcome Mat EP, where she actually singlehandedly responds to ex-husband Morgan Evans aforementioned heartbreaking ballad, “Over For You,” in a series of songs about their crumbling marriage, in addition to addressing a multitude of other issues they had in their marriage.

You can check out the trailer here, it looks like Kelsea’s ready to spill it all:
