Yeah yeah…we all know that bears have the ability to completely rip you to shreds if they feel threatened enough, and they should be avoided at all costs for your own well-being.
However, as many terrifying stories as we hear about the creatures, we also hear equally as many about them just doing their best impressions of “guys being dudes.”
We’ve seen it time and time again.
Bears that walk right into a house just because they smell pizza sitting on the counter, bears playing the piano, some that even peak their head inside a house just to say hello, and then quietly leave, and the list of examples go on and on.
Of course, none of these inspire me any further to befriend a bear, but it does shed some light on the curiosity and even kindness of the creatures.
And for our latest edition of “bears being dudes,” we’ve gotta good one.
In this video, it appears that security footage captured a black bear hanging out on the back deck of someone’s house, eyeballing a popular, and more importantly, easy source of food for bears… a bird feeder.
But with this rather massive setup out of arms length, what’s a bear to do?
Send it.
Sure enough, the bear leaps from the deck and grabs hold of the feeder, and slides down it like a fire pole.
I must admit, this is a pretty impressive and ballsy leap, because I would’ve 100% ended up in the hospital if I tried to pull off this stunt.
Nevertheless, I think the bears is going to have to do a little more work to get to the seed.

Black Bear Relaxes After Winning Fight For Kiddie Pool
Bears are interesting creatures.
On one hand, they can look harmless and cute, making us laugh with sometimes extremely humanlike behavior, like taking selfies or breaking into a house, raiding the fridge, and refusing to leave…
But on the other, much more lethal hand, bears are an absolute wreaking ball of a killing machine, perhaps the best walking the planet.
Still, there’s no denying how absolutely fascinating these creatures can be, and this latest video gives us yet another example.
On July 25th in North Bend, Washington, two bears who grew up together tried to beat the heat by jumping in a kiddie pool. Unfortunately, it wasn’t big enough for the two of them and something had to be done.
They had a quick tussle, with one taking a fast win, causing his friend to scurry away.
And that look on his face when laying down in the pool alone, head resting on the edge?
Absolute pure bliss.
Instant inter-dimensional meditation, relaxation, and Zen wrapped up into an exhale of chill and victory.
“These two bear siblings have been hanging around a lot together. Always playing with the balls around the yard or climbing the trees, but especially wrestling with each other.
This time, the victor… after a short round… lays herself down into the perfect Zen position to soak up the sun.”
Ahh to be that bear today…
