Watch Travis Tritt and Marty Stuart Perform “The Whiskey Ain’t Workin’ Anymore” At The Grand Ole Opry

I love me some Travis Tritt.

Ans this video is truly one of my favorite performances. Put Marty Stuart, another personal favorite, with Travis Tritt, and we’ve got a party.

Although the video isn’t dated, it’s pretty easy to tell from the song the duo performed together what time it’s near. “The Whiskey Ain’t Workin’ Anymore” was a Grammy-winning duet between Tritt and Stuart, and Tritt was inducted into the Opry right when it was hitting its peak on the charts.

Travis Tritt was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry in 1992, so I’m taking a wild guess this performance is from close to before or right after his induction. Tritt opened up in his bio about how he was surprised he fit into the Opry’s induction qualifications.

“I always thought that I was too rowdy and too much of a rocker, or too heavily influenced by the other side, to be asked to be a member of the Grand Ole Opry.”

For the ’90s, it might have been rowdy, but looking back today on this performance specifically, Tritt is electric on stage.

Tritt feeds off of Stuart’s charismatic stage presence and its magic.

“It’s always a thrill to be on the Grand Ole Opry, and I can’t think of anybody in the world I’d rather be on the Opry with than this guy right here.”

The two crack some jokes off of each other before smoothly transitioning into the honky tonk tune.

This is such a great carefree performance of genuinely talented musicians having a blast on stage. It is just icing on the cake that “The Whiskey Ain’t Workin’ Anymore” is a banger.

After the performance, the crowd is absolutely roaring.

If you liked that, here are some more clips of Marty Stuart from the same night at the Opry performing “Farmers Blues” and “Country Music’s Got A Hold On Me.”
