Logan Halstead Was One Of Country Music’s Best Kept Secrets, But Now The Secret’s Out

For a while, Logan Halstead was one of YouTube’s best kept secrets in country music.

Several videos of Halstead playing his original music have made the rounds on YouTube over the last couple of years, but for the longest time his music never hit the streaming platforms.

Now, thanks to OurVinyl, Logan Halstead is on Spotify – and his talent isn’t a secret any longer.

A native of Boone County, West Virginia, Halstead is young but seems wise beyond his years when he puts pen to paper.

A talented lyricist whose song content authentically revolves around his experiences growing up and living in the heart of Appalachia, Halstead is one of the driving forces in the scene of young artists hailing from the Appalachian region.

His most popular song to date, “Dark Black Coal,” is a perfect example, with impressive lyricism and powerful vocals reminiscent of Tyler Childers. Having amassed over 4 million views on YouTube since it was recorded at the end of 2020 and posted by RadioWV, “Dark Black Coal” is the most highly anticipated to hit streaming platforms of the songs included on Halstead’s OurVinyl session.

Joining “Dark Black Coal” in the full session and on streaming platforms are Halstead’s original tunes “Kentucky Sky” and “Angel on My Shoulder,” as well as a cover of Richard Thompson’s 1991 motorcycle anthem “1952 Vincent Black Lightning.”
