Yellowstone Season 5: Kelly Reilly Says The Dutton Family Needs Jamie – “It’s Like Working For The Mob”

Wes Bentley Jamie Dutton

As we slowly creep towards Season 5 of Yellowstone, we have a lot to look forward to for the upcoming season.

Will Caroline be Beth’s downfall? Will Carter become a son to Rip and Beth? What the hell was Kayce’s vision quest all about? What will become of Jamie after Beth forced him to murder his biological father?

There’s so many questions that need answering…

With that being said, Kelly Reilly (Beth Dutton) sat down for an interview with TV Insider to discuss Beth and Rip’s marriage, the status of Caroline, the heart pounding scene with Jamie, and more.

Expressing her excitement for the upcoming season, Reilly talks about how Beth is feeling going into it:

“Beth is going into this feeling pretty good about everything. She’s confident that things are going to be looked after better.”

And believe it or not, Season 5 might find Jamie and Beth working together more:

“There’s a bit of the early dynamic coming back into the show, of them having to work together. Beth and John are using Jamie to put things through that they wouldn’t be able to do.

They need him working for the family. It’s like working for the mob.”

Obviously, Beth and Jamie have some stuff to work out, but Beth and Rip have never been better:

“They’re in a beautiful, solid place. There’s something magical for her that this is now, finally, her husband, her person forever.

Marriage for her is a wonderful thing. Has it tamed her? No.”

The two-part Season 5 is set to premiere on November 13th, only on Paramount Network.

Kelly Reilly Says Beth Dutton Is Going Even Harder In Season 5

Marriage calming Beth Dutton down?

Not a chance…

In a new interview with Entertainment Tonight, Yellowstone actress Kelly Reilly weighed in on whether or not her character Beth Dutton might mellow out a bit now that she’s finally married to Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser), and they basically have an adopted son in Carter (Finn Little).

But that won’t be the case for Season 5.

And believe it or not, Reilly says Beth is gonna turn it up even more:

“The problem is, how do we top it every year, right? Just when I think Beth might be trying to mellow down a little bit, she’s a married woman, that’s not happening.

I mean, the married woman part’s happening but the calming down. So, it’s just, the fierceness is legitimately ramping up.”

That being said, she does confess that her new marriage to Rip might give her more stability that she’s ever had before:

“In a strange way, I think Beth is quite old-fashioned in her values. I think the fact that this man is now her husband, it holds a lot of power.

But he’s always been her guy since she was 16 years old. He’s the only man, other than her father,  that she’s ever loved.

So, the fact that it’s official in God’s eyes, it’s something I think she’s incredibly proud of and it probably gives her a little more stability.”

Nevertheless, if you were hoping to see the same ruthless, powerful, badass, borderline psychopath Beth in Season 5, you’re in luck.

Yellowstone’s Finn Little (Carter) Looks Unrecognizable

During Season 4 of Yellowstone, fans were introduced to new series regular Carter, played by Finn Little. Fun fact: The Aussie actor also starred alongside Angelina Jolie in the Taylor Sheridan film, Those Who Wish Me Dead.

But Carter, a down on his luck youngster with no family and no future, he’s taken in by Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) after his addict (and scumbag) father dies in the hospital.

Beth is of course at the hospital to visit her father who was just shot up at the order of Jamie Dutton’s (Wes Bentley) biological father, Garrett Randall.

Beth takes a liking to Carter, seeing some of her own troubled past in him and brings him back to the ranch where he butts heads with Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser) and Beth, and pretty much everyone else but John Dutton (Kevin Costner).

Once Rip and Beth get married, you can start to see their crazy little family take shape, although Beth savagely tells Carter she’s not his mother after he calls her that (talk about a heartbreaker of a scene). In fact, fans got so worked up over that scene that Kelly took the time to address it.

Anyways, the Beth, Rip and Carter dynamic is going to be a key plot point of Season 5, however… Carter ain’t no kid anymore.

Dude showed up on set looking like a grown ass man.

So much so that even the own production staff didn’t recognize him:

“When you say, ‘hi, nice to see you!’ to the film crew and they don’t know who you are!”

And six months he looked like this?

Damn…
