First off, let me start by saying that I’m ashamed that I’m even paying attention to this garbage trial between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard.
Me, a grown ass man with a job and bills and all the other shit that comes with being an adult, and I’m watching a trial that’s basically turned into a trash reality TV show between two Hollywood celebrities that I don’t care about in the least.
But it’s entertaining as hell.
Obviously the most shocking moment of the trial was when Johnny Depp revealed that Amber Heard had taken a shit in his bed, which she later tried to blame on the dog getting into some weed. (The old “the dog ate my weed and then shit in my bed” excuse. Never works).
And in between all of the fireworks (or maybe because of them), the internet has fallen in love with Johnny Depp’s legal team. But Amber Heard’s legal team has seemed – well, unprepared at times.
There was a video that went viral a few weeks ago of one of her attorneys objecting to his own question. And another viral moment came when another one of Heard’s attorneys got so flustered by Depp’s attorney’s objections that she basically just threw her hands up and told the court “I’m trying.”
Yeah, not a great look for an attorney.
But as if that wasn’t bad enough, a former TMZ employee walked up onto the stand and put the final dagger into the heart of Heard’s attorney, Elaine Bredehoft.
Morgan Tremaine was a former field assignment manager for TMZ, who worked on several viral stories regarding the troubled relationship between Depp and Heard, and had been tipped off several times about Heard’s next move, such as filing for a restraining order against Depp or appearing for a deposition in her divorce case.
He had also received and posted an unflattering video from an unnamed source that showed Depp smashing cabinets and screaming in his apartment, a video that was later shown during this trial.
But when Tremaine took the witness stand, Bredehoft questioned his motives for testifying, accusing him of only being there because he was seeking his 15 minutes of fame.
And that turned out to be a huge mistake.
“I could say the same thing about taking Amber Heard as a client for you.”
Brutal.
Bredehoft smirked and accused Tremaine of being “argumentative,” but Tremaine said it was “purely logical.”
And the whole courtroom was in shock.
Depp and his legal team didn’t even try to hide their laughter, and spectators in the gallery gasped and looked both shocked and amused by the quick quip.
All I’ve gotta say is that if I were Heard’s attorneys, I wouldn’t want to show my face again in the courtroom after that one.
