Imagine seeing pawprints in the snow outside of your house, following the tracks, and coming across an unidentified animal that nobody has ever seen before…

Sounds crazy, right?

Whelp, this odd situation became a reality for one woman in Fairfield Township, Pennsylvania.

According to Today, Christina Eyth noticed tracks in the snow at her house, and they led her to a situation she probably never dreamed of in a million years.

She said she couldn’t identify if it was a dog or a coyote, and said it was shivering and scared.

She recalled the wild encounter:

“I peeked outside the door and that’s whenever I noticed the animal on my left hand side and it was so scared and so cold and shivering.”

“All I could think about is ‘This animal needs help.'”

She then called Wildlife Works, a local rescue, to take the animal in and identify it…

However, nobody could figure out what it was.

Wildlife Works wildlife rehabilitator Morgan Barron discussed the steps needed to take in this strange situation:

“But to err on the side of caution since they can carry rabies and since it might be a coyote, we can keep it here, get genetic testing done, and then kind of go from there.”

Barron also added that she believes the animal is a dog due to the fact that it isn’t acting aggressively as a coyote would.

However, the unidentified animal has been kept in isolation until its identification is complete.
