If you’ve been following the heartbreaking Gabby Petito case, like many of us have, you know what an absolutely tragic whirlwind it’s been. It’s the kind of story that makes its way into a Netflix docuseries down the road… unfortunately.

If you’re completely clueless, here’s a quick rundown:

Back in July, 23 year old Gabby Petito embarked on a cross country road trip with her fiancé Brian Laundrie. Her family lost contact with her towards the end of August. Brian returned home to Florida without Gabby, and about 10 days later, Gabby’s family reported her missing.

When police went to the Laundrie house, his parents said they didn’t know where he was. Gabby’s body was found in Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming. An arrest warrant was issued for Brian who still remains at large.

And now, Dog The Bounty Hunter is on the case.

After a number of fan requests, Dog, who was already in Florida for his honeymoon, got on the trail, started sorting through tips and leads, and even went to the Laundrie house to speak with the parents.

Brian Laundrie’s mom called the police on him…

However, a tip led Dog to a campground about 75 miles north of their North Port, Florida, home where video surveillance proves that Brian AND his parents checked into in early September, AFTER Brian returned home without his fiancée.

And many folks think Brian Laundrie’s parents either, know where he is, know where he headed, or are actively helping to hide him.

In Dog’s experience, that’s often times the case. He told doctor Oz that half of the time, the family knows exactly where their child is hiding:

“Well, 50 percent of the time the parents know exactly where they’re at. 35 percent the parents helped.

So many parents I interviewed, ‘I have no idea Dog, I swear to God, I swear, it was my baby I’d turn them in.’

After I catch them, they’re like ‘Dog I couldn’t, I knew.'”

The attorney for the Laundrie family confirmed that they did go camping together, however they all left together, and that the parents have no idea where their son is hiding.

At the moment, Dog is working with the FBI, sharing information to help bring Brian Laundrie in.

According to Fox News, they’re currently investigating a lead that has Laundrie hiding out along the Appalachian Trail, in North Carolina.

Laundrie has reportedly been spotted around Boone, North Carolina, and although none of these claims have been verified by law enforcement, Dog and company are investigating the lead.

The Watauga County Sheriff’s Office says:

“We were looking into these claims, but nothing has been verified.”
