Get Ready For Game Day With David Bennett’s Legendary “Be A Dog” Speech

Back for another week of college football.

This week, there’s not a ton to love in the early slate so I’ll tell you to sleep in and then tune in to (12) Indiana vs (16) Wisconsin at 3:30 pm on ABC. For your SEC fix, there’s Alabama vs LSU on CBS at 8:00 pm.

Another intriguing matchup on the slate is (13) BYU vs (18) Coastal Carolina. These two teams weren’t supposed to play but due to some COVID-related issues, they’ll be going at it later this afternoon.

To get us ready for this matchup of two undefeated teams, let’s watch former Coastal Carolina coach, David Bennett’s legendary “be a dog” speech:

This might be the most “football guy” speech of all-time.

From the accent, to the mustache, the story about a broken screen door, to the Coastal Carolina button down (that is clearly his only collared shirt), the cat impression… it’s all just perfect.

I’m sure the sentiment behind “we need more dogs” is something that every football coach around the country has probably thought at some point in their coaching career, but Bennett managed to put into words like only he could.

And for Coastal Carolina’s sake, they’re gonna need a lot more “dogs” today if they want to complete the upset over Zach Wilson and the BYU Cougars.

“Good Grannies Alive!”
