Merle Haggard’s Johnny Cash Impression Was Next-Level

I’ve been on a weird kick lately of watching really old YouTube videos of some of country music’s all-time greats fuckin’ around with impersonations.

That’s what happens when you have a 4 month old at home and you try to entertain yourself while still finding some forgotten videos to share with the masses.

Recently I shared the famous video of Johnny Cash impersonating Elvis in 1959 – if you missed it, get a load of this.

That resulted in me also coming across Merle Haggard doing his best form of flattery for fellow country greats Marty Robbins, Hank Snow, Buck Owens and Johnny Cash.

As the top-rated YouTube comment on this video points out…

“That moment when Merle sounds more like Johnny Cash than Johnny Cash.”
