Nashville Nurse Sings Christmas Classic With Longtime Musician Undergoing Cancer Treatment

This is the kind of news you like to read about.

According to WSMV, Penn Pennington has been playing Broadway bars for more than 30 years, and even had a 23-year gig with Jack Greene at the Grand Ole Opry. However these days, Pennington is stuck at TriStar Centennial Medical Center battling Non-Hodgkin’s Double-Hit lymphoma.

When his oncology nurse, Alex Collazo, heard that he was a musician, she brought her guitar to the hospital to help cheer him up. The two have since gone viral with their heart-melting performance of “O Holy Night.”

“I tell all my patients, we’re family now, and we go through this together, like family,” said Collazo. “And I’m going to be here with you every step of the way, for a few short minutes, help him forget he was in the hospital and what he was going through.”

“Her extra special care for me, it made a big difference in my being here,” said Pennington.

God bless her.
