The mysterious Sturgill Simpson is making another appearance this month, however it’s probably not what you might have expected.

The Grammy-winning recording artist will be a guest panelist at San Diego’s Comic-Con 2019, participating in a panel discussion titled: “SOUND & FURY:  Creators of Animatrix and Batman Ninja Unite for Sturgill Simpson. According to a press release, Sturgill will join Takashi Okazaki, creator of Japanese manga series “Afro Samurai,” and Junpei Mizusaki, director for the animated film “Batman Ninja,” for a discussion of their forthcoming film, “SOUND & FURY.”

Their new collaboration merges American rock music and Japanese anime in a way never seen before.  Further details for the film will be revealed at the panel including the debut of the first trailer.  The panel is scheduled for Saturday, July 20, from 7:30-8:30pm in Room 5AB.

This past month, Simpson debuted another track he wrote for a film titled, The Dead Don’t Die, written and directed by Jim Jarmusch.
