It’s the end of an era in the NFL, one that quarterbacks and offensive linemen around the league are probably celebrating right about now…. Aaron Donald has announced his retirement.
The longtime Rams DT has been absolute menace over his 10-year career in the NFL, recording 111 sacks, 24 forced fumbles, 10 trips to the Pro Bowl, 8-time 1st team All-Pro honors, 3-time DPOY honors, and he even won a Super Bowl… the man was as dominant as it gets.
But looking back on this legendary career, I can’t help but be reminded of the incredible, insanely incompetent Urban Meyer having no clue who he even was.
Of course, Urban Meyer had a brief and disastrous stint as the head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2021, arguably the worst coaching run in NFL coaching history.
The examples of absurd behavior and terrible coaching were PLENTIFUL, from the garbage performance of his team, to the viral video of a girl grinding on him at a bar, to practically calling out his coaching staff’s manhood, and even kicking his own kicker. Needless to say, it was an absolute mess down in Jacksonville.
But according to a report from The Athletic, Meyer had absolutely no clue who Aaron Donald and a number of other star players around the league were. While he was researching the NFL in preparation to take the Jags’ head coaching job, a source told the outlet that he asked the question:
“Who’s this 99 guy on the Rams? I’m hearing he might be a problem for us.”
Well, Mr. coach Meyer, that 99 guy was the top defensive lineman in the league for practically a decade, and is a household name to anybody who has basic knowledge of NFL football, let alone an NFL head coach.
Other players he was unfamiliar with include 49ers WR Deebo Samuel and Seahawks safety Jamal Adams. Utter insanity. That should’ve been a red flag right there, Jacksonville.
The commentary at the time was HYSTERICAL:
Idk why y’all are expecting Urban Meyer to know who #99 on the Rams is when he doesn’t even know who #99 on the Jaguars is.

He also reportedly berated his players on more than one occasion, saying a number of them would be working low-paying jobs if they weren’t playing football.
In another instance, he implied that players from the South were dumb.
Yo Urban Meyer is nutz he didn’t have to do John Brown like that….. crazy pic.twitter.com/pJnCq5SF3v
