If you thought Kevin Costner was calling it quits with Yellowstone, think again.
The 67-year-old actor has been a mainstay in the movie/TV show industry for almost 50 years, but some may say he’s peaking now with his success as John Dutton on Yellowstone.
And while he hasn’t directed a feature film since 2003’s Open Range, he’s about to get back behind the camera (and in front of it) for an upcoming western titled, Horizon.
According to Deadline, Horizon has been a longtime passion for Costner that is finally coming to fruition.:
“America’s expansion into the west was one that was fraught with peril and intrigue from the natural elements, to the interactions with the indigenous peoples who lived on the land, and the determination and at many times ruthlessness of those who sought to settle it.
‘Horizon’ tells the story of that journey in an honest and forthcoming way, highlighting the points of view and consequences of the characters life and death decisions.”
Much like 1883, the prequel of his Paramount Network hit series Yellowstone, Horizon will be set during a 15-year period before, during and after the Civil War when settlers were looking to expand and explore new life in the American West.
The movie is set to begin production on August 29th in Utah, and Costner will produce, star, and finance the film.
We already know what an A+ character John Dutton is… it sounds like this role is right in Costner’s wheelhouse.
“Couldn’t be more excited to share this project with the world. It’s been a long time coming.”
