The “Good Girl of the Year” is locked up if you ask me… the award should go to this husky in Connecticut that saw a black bear running towards a child and rushed to get in between them.
I’ll never understand the type of people that don’t like having pets. Sure, your house probably stays clean more easily, and you can leave your home for long periods of time and not worry about boarding or finding a dog-sitter, and you probably save money not having to pay for vet bills and pet food…I’m gonna go ahead and stop there.
Forget that I said all of that and focus in on this dog that saved a child’s life.
All of those things I listed earlier are great perks of not owning a pet, but wouldn’t you rather have a built-in bodyguard following you around? The Tazzara family was certainly thankful that they had their husky, because if the dog hadn’t been there to play hero in this Torrington, Connecticut neighborhood… this might have been a very different, somber story.
Security camera footage captured the Tazzara family’s child playing with toys in the family driveway when a black bear came running through the yard and towards the young boy. Startled, the kiddo started to run away, all while the family’s husky came sprinting in to save the day.
Just before the black bear reached the kid, the husky caught up with the apex predator and gave it a nice bite on the butt. That immediately changed the wild animal’s plan from fight to flight. The bear went flying into the toys and boat parked on the opposite side of the driveway, and then high-tailed it away from the home… all while the husky followed closely behind for good measure.
Jeff Tazzara, the boy’s father and husky’s owner, told told News 8 that they’ve always noticed their dog being protective of their kids, and this video showed that their good girl will do anything to keep them safe:
“(The dog) always puts herself in between strangers and the kids, but you always wonder in the back of your head, ‘What’s gonna happen if she needs to protect us?’ And now we know.”
And if you were thinking, “I sure hope that the husky got rewarded for its bravery with a pup cup or something,” the family’s fur baby was going to be well taken care of according to Jeff Tazzara. He told the same outlet that a steak dinner was in order for their courageous canine:
“She’ll get to enjoy probably a T-bone or something like that.”
I sure hope that T-bone dinner was arranged, because the husky definitely deserves it after being brave enough to chase down a bear. The term “guard dog” is thrown around a lot, but this husky in Connecticut is clearly and undoubtedly one of the best guard dogs on the planet. It didn’t hesitate to fight a black bear to save one the kiddos she loves, and for that, she deserves to celebrated with some social media attention… and hopefully a T-bone steak.
