Swifties have bad blood with the Seattle Seahawks.
The Kansas City Chiefs lost their first game of the season last night after falling to the defending Super Bowl champions 20-3 in Seattle.
It was a tough night for Chiefs running back Kenneth Walker III, who was returning to Seattle for the first time since being named Super Bowl MVP last year and getting traded to the Chiefs in the offseason. Walker managed only 36 yards on 14 carries and no touchdowns, only the second time all season he’s been kept out of the endzone. And quarterback Patrick Mahomes managed to throw for only 165 yards with one interception and no touchdowns as the Seahawks managed to all but shut down the high-powered Chiefs offense.
But despite the rough day for the Chiefs, nobody is having a worse day right now than the social media manager for the Seattle Seahawks.
After the game, the team took to X to celebrate the win – and troll the Chiefs – with a photo of a friendship bracelet that said “Seahawks Win.”
It was, of course, clearly a jab at Taylor Swift, the wife of Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. Swift’s fans are well-known for making and trading the colorful beaded bracelets at her concerts, inspired by a lyric from her 2022 song “You’re On Your Own, Kid” on her album Midnights:
“So make the friendship bracelets
Take the moment and taste it”
Well Seahawks fans clearly loved the trolling of Swift and the Chiefs. But Swifties, on the other hand, were outraged that the team was taking a shot at a player’s wife:
“Why do y’all think it’s okay to troll a team by using the spouse of an opposing player? This wouldn’t be acceptable if she wasn’t Taylor Swift. She deserves respect just like every other player’s spouse”
“Seattle on the hatewatch for the rest of the season now. LEAVE TAYLOR OUT OF THIS”
“The disrespect is why I hate other teams, make it a chief pun, but why Taylor why a spouse”
“I will never be ok with this because they don’t use any other significant other but Taylor…grow up”
“And just like that, lost all respect for them. Just very poor taste.”
“This is such a bad look. please fire your social media manager. this isn’t even clever and it’s extremely inappropriate to go after a players wife.”
“This isn’t going to end well for you guys.”
“Voodoo will get you next week against the Bears”
“Celebrate your players. You have been waiting for this moment to use Taylor for clout. May you never win again”
“You just ruined the rest of your season”
“That Taylor karma’s gonna getcha”
“Imagine winning an NFL game and making it a celebration about Taylor Swift’s amazing friendship bracelets…. You are beyond pathetic”
There are also comments from Swifties wishing injuries on Seahawks players now. Insanity.
Of course the whole “leave Taylor out of this” would probably be a little more legitimate if the NFL and the broadcast networks didn’t show Swift in her suite every time Kelce makes a catch.
In the words of one major pop star, you need to calm down.
