Dutton Ranch is picking up right where Yellowstone left off.
The highly-anticipated Yellowstone spinoff Dutton Ranch is set to premiere very soon, in just two days on May 15th, and Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) and Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser) will reprise their roles and return to the screens of fans all over the world, and this new show has been described as “Yellowstone Season 6.”
We’ll get a sense of where it’s all going when it premieres later this week, but in the lead up the first episode, Kelly and Cole, who play a couple on-screen, have been doing a ton of press to promote the series, but of course, it’s not their first rodeo. They’ve been working closely together for over a decade now, and they’ve been a fan-favorite couple for years, and fans will get to see how they handle a big move from Montana to Texas as this new series gets started.
And during an interview with Entertainment Tonight at the premiere last night, Reilly was asked to describe this upcoming season in one word, which she said was nearly impossible to do… but she did reveal that Dutton Ranch will not be changing pace in terms of how Yellowstone was (at least in the earlier seasons), explaining that they “just want to be left alone” but unfortunately that doesn’t happen for them:
“It’s hard to find one word. They’ve laid ‘Yellowstone’ to rest, it’s gone back to the land itself, the Native Americans. It was so poetically ended by Taylor [Sheridan], and Beth and Rip really are starting again from the ashes.
They’re looking for some simplicity, they’re looking for some quiet, and just family. They just want to be left alone after all of that fighting, and unfortunately, life does not allow that. It would be boring, I guess.”
The trailer shows the couple having to confront a powerful rival rancher named Beulah Jackson, in addition to showing a body being buried, shootings, a massive explosion, and much more, which doesn’t sound too different from the many conflicts these two in particular handled on Yellowstone.
I know a lot of fans felt like, towards the end, Yellowstone really lost the plot, so to speak, and felt pretty boring at times, and to be honest, I haven’t really enjoyed Marshals nearly as much as I thought I would… so hopefully this is the spinoff that really works.
Rip and Beth have been fan-favorite characters pretty much since the beginning, so I definitely have the most hope that they can put out something really great if this whole spinoff thing is going to work at all:
