This is the life.
Talk about the best seat in the house. Each year, the Amgen Irish Open is held at The K Club in Straffan, Co. Kildare, Ireland, on the historic Royal County Down golf course. The golf club is one of Ireland’s oldest golf courses, being home to two 18-hole links courses, the Championship Course and the Annesley Links.
This year, the tournament will be held from September 4th to the 7th, drawing the world’s top golfers to the course, along with spectators from around the world. I’m not an avid spectator of the sport, but with views like this of the Irish countryside, I’d be happy to attend the Amgen Irish Open.
While there are tiered packages for spectators, one spectator from last year had a view that money couldn’t buy. A cattle farmer has land that backs up to the edge of the historic course and took advantage of his mortgage payments, planting a chair on his fence line inside one of his pastures to watch the tournament.
“There’s one of the few spectators outside of the bubble. He’s got a few friends as well. Photograph that, somebody quickly. That’s brilliant.”
The commentators said as they watched the farmer sipping his coffee, unbothered by his herd of cattle, wondering what he was doing inside their field. While this man is living his best life, the cows, on the other hand, look like his chair is a UFO that’s landed in his field as they sniff around their owner.
The clip went viral last year when it was posted during the Irish Open in the fall, but it has recently resurfaced and is going viral again. The video became top of mind again when DudespostingWs on X shared the video again with the caption:
Amen to that. This man is living the dream, and it’s just another day on the farm for him.
If I were even to win the lottery, I wouldn’t tell anyone, but there would be signs. (If you’re not picking up what I’m putting down, this picturesque would be your sign). I strive to have what this Irishman has in life. Check out some of the responses left on the post.
