Never really a great look when you have to clarify that you don’t hate America…
CNN has obviously come under a lot of fire for their left-wing bias in recent years, and just in the past week the network was criticized for airing a segment from certified lunatic Taylor Lorenz where she praised UnitedHealthcare CEO shooter Luigi Mangione as a “morally good man.”
The network has also had guests on who called America a racist and sexist country, said that America has never been great, reported on President Donald Trump’s appearance at Mount Rushmore as “standing in front of a monument of two slaveowners on land wrestled away from Native Americans” while saying that we need to reexamine how we celebrate Independence Day, and called the American Dream a “lie.” And those are just a few examples.
If that’s love, I would hate to see how they talk about a country they hate.
But anyway, President Trump has frequently called out CNN for their biased reporting, mocking them for their low viewership numbers and referring to them as “Fake News.”
And yesterday, the president once again went to battle with CNN in the Oval Office over a question from White House correspondent Kaitlin Collins during a meeting with El Salvador’s president Nayib Bukele.
Collins was questioning whether Trump or Bukele would return Kilmar Abrego Garcia, an illegal immigrant from El Salvador who was determined by a court in 2019 to be a member of the MS-13 gang. But he was also granted “withholding of removal” status by an immigration judge, which would have prevented his immediate deportation.
Abrego Garcia was nonetheless deported back to his home country on March 25 due to what the Trump administration has referred to as an “administrative error,” and has been imprisoned in El Salvador’s notorious maximum security prison, CECOT, ever since.
The parties have gone back and forth in court, with the Supreme Court ordering that the Trump administration must “facilitate” his return, while also finding that courts must respect the “deference owed to the Executive Branch in the conduct of foreign affair.” The result has been both sides claiming victory, with the Trump administration refusing to return Abrego Garcia while arguing that the Supreme Court order would only require them to pick him up should he be released from prison and returned by El Salvador. Democrats, meanwhile, argue that the Trump administration is ignoring the Supreme Court.
During their meeting in the Oval Office, both Trump and Bukele confirmed that they had no intention of returning Abrego Garcia to the United States, but that didn’t stop CNN’s Kaitlin Collins from asking repeated questions about it – leading Trump to finally shut her down:
“They’d love to have the criminal released into our country. They would love it. These are sick people.”
Bukele also praised Trump for the work he’s done on immigration, and questioned why the drop in border crossings wasn’t being reported by the American media – which led Trump to take another shot at CNN:
“CNN over here doesn’t want to put them out because they don’t like putting out good numbers, because I think they hate our country actually. It’s a shame, you’re right.”

Well Trump’s comments forced CNN to break into their coverage of the meeting, and in an almost surreal moment, anchor Dana Bash was forced to deny that the network hates America:
“I just want to say, for the record, since we heard President Trump say in the Oval Office that CNN hates our country: CNN does not hate our country. That should go without saying.”

Sure, it SHOULD go without saying, but the fact that it doesn’t should be concerning to the folks over there at CNN, no? It’s like the old “have you stopped beating your wife” rhetorical trap, and CNN fell right into it.
