He put a ring ROCK on it.
Last night, Lainey Wilson and her longtime boyfriend, now fiancé Devlin “Duck” Hodges, shared that they are officially engaged. In a carousel of photos on Instagram, you can see them on a gorgeous, sprawling porch looking so happy and in love at the proposal.
Fans have been speculating that the pair might already be engaged, or were headed that way soon, and it looks like they were onto something, clearly.
But aside from the exciting news that the happy couple is going to tie the knot, I of course was invested in Lainey’s ring… she’s actually talked about her dream ring a little bit publicly, and told Kelly Sutton and Amber Anderson on the Country Heat Weekly podcast that she wanted to be “walkin’ with a limp” because of how big her (then future) ring would be:
“I don’t care what shape it is, but I want to be walkin’ with a limp. I want to have to pick my arm up like this.”
Obviously, that comment made headlines, and I would say Duck certainly came through… Lainey’s ring is a massive boulder and absolutely stunning. Hopefully, eventually, we’ll get a closer up photo or video of it because my goodness, it is breathtaking. There’s no information yet on the designer or anything like that, but I’m sure Lainey will eventually share about all the people who made this day so special for her.
And she’s gonna need extra security just to walk around with her with that ring on…
Also, I love that Duck proposed with a cute cowboy hat ring box, perfect for Lainey, and a huge congratulations are in order for the happy couple.
Of course, fans flooded the comments congratulating her on the engagement, but also commenting on the ring and how happy they were she got exactly what she wanted:

She’s going to be wearing it forever, so I think she should get exactly what she wants in terms of the important piece of jewelry, and Duck outdid himself. Of course, their relationship is the most important thing, but that stunning piece of jewlery is an added bonus, let’s be honest, ladies.
I’m sure she’ll be writing plenty more of them now, but Lainey actually penned a love song about Duck called “4X4XU” on her most recent album Whirlwind, which is a rare glimpse into her true love for him and their relationship in general. Lainey has said several times before that before Duck, she never wrote love songs because she didn’t have anyone she really wanted to write them about, and it’s exciting that she seems to have finally found someone who was worth waiting for.

While Lainey might be busy wedding planning this year, she’s also gearing up to hit the road for her Whirlwind tour that kicks off next month, so she’s going to have a very busy 2025.
