The lead and title single off his forthcoming record, I’m The Problem.
Today is a good New Music Friday for country music fans, especially Morgan Wallen fans, as he released his long-awaited single “I’m The Problem.”
Last week, Morgan Wallen announced that this year, he would be hitting the road with some big names like Koe Wetzel, Brooks & Dunn, Miranda Lambert, Ella Langley, Gavin Adcock, and more for his 2025 stadium tour. The tour’s name, I’m The Problem, will celebrate the forthcoming record he announced with the tour dates.
2025 is shaping up to be another massive year for the Tennessee native, and today, he released the first single off that upcoming record, which is sure to be a hit. Wallen first teased a snippet of “I’m The Problem” over a year ago. At the time, in the teaser’s caption, Wallen titled the song “I Guess” but has since workshopped it to its final form, “I’m The Problem,” written by Wallen, Ernest Keith Smith, Ryan Vojtesak, Grady Block, and Jamie McLaughlin.
Instantly, fans were drawn to the demo recording and thrilled when he shared the official studio teaser last week, which sounded similar to the demo.
When workshopping a song, it’s often difficult to please fans who are drawn to the stripped-back version while you are figuring out the instrumentals. Still, it’s a true victory when you can keep the elements that initially drew fans to the track while ramping it up in the studio to create a single with more depth.
Throughout the song’s lyrics, Wallen wrestles with the end of a relationship where he is constantly blamed for wrongdoings. While he is beaten down by being told he’s the problem, he points to facts where the woman was also not being the best version of herself or working to better herself for their relationship, ultimately leading to its downfall.
In the aftermath, Wallen is left a broken man, feeling he was set up to be called the problem in the relationship:
“I guess I’m the problem
And you’re Ms. “Never Do No Wrong”
If I’m so awful
Then why’d you stick around this long?
And if it’s the whiskey
Then why you keep on pullin’ it off the shelf?
You hate that when you look at me, you halfway see yourself
And it got me thinkin’
If I’m the problem, well, you might be the reason…”
Check it out.
Given Wallen has been on a #1 streak with “Love Somebody” scoring Wallen his 16th #1 single (17th if you include features), I am sure “I’m The Problem” will be quickly climbing the charts to follow the same path of his previous singles’ successes.
General public on-sale for his I’m The Problem Tour also begins today. Just like Wallen did with tickets last year, a portion of every ticket sold benefits the Morgan Wallen Foundation (MWF), which supports youth programs focusing on sports and music.
Head over to Vivid Seats and grab your ticket before they are sold out.
