Another one.
Jelly Roll is genuinely on a roll as he just scored his sixth consecutive number-one hit on country radio with “I Am Not Okay”– a milestone that some artists only dream of. It’s no lie that Jelly Roll’s rags the riches story has captured the hearts of fans, but his humble personality combined with his vulnerable and moving lyrics have what truly made him a star.
Released as a single off his latest project, Beautifully Broken, it didn’t take long for Jelly Roll and his team to recognize this song would be huge, and they quickly sent it to country radio as a single. They made the right choice, sending the powerful track highlighting that it’s okay to admit when you’re struggling to country radio, which scored Jelly Roll a career milestone, making it his sixth single in a row.
Jelly Roll debuted the single during The Voice finale earlier this summer when it was an unreleased track, and his moving performance quickly had fans begging him to release the track across streaming platforms.
Many artists are transparent about their mental health and share with fans when they are struggling, so this song is the perfect anthem for anyone going through a tough time and hoping to make it out on the other side. Jelly Roll has been beyond vulnerable with his fans and his road to having more good days than bad, and he connects even deeper with fans on this track, reminding them that they, too, can acknowledge they are down but know that they will be okay one day.
Upon this single reaching the number one spot on country radio, Jelly Roll shared some words regarding how thankful he is
“Thank you to country radio, the team, and the label for taking the first single from the Beautifully Broken album to #1. And to everyone who has supported this song along the way. I believe in the power that music has to connect with people, and being able to see the response out on the road touring and seeing and hearing from people about this song, it’s been unreal.
I want to thank the other co-writers, Taylor Phillips, Ashley Gorley, and Casey Brown, for creating something that is incredible and that I am so proud of. Thank you to the fans for believing in the music and for being a part of this – for calling the stations and asking to hear it. If you had told me before that I would have six consecutive #1 at Country radio, I wouldn’t have believed you. Thank you for continuing to shine a light on therapeutic music.”
Jelly Roll is on a roll and shows no signs of slowing down. Congratulations, Jelly.
