There’s no better way to celebrate a victory than wetting a line in a pond at the very golf course that you just conquered.
The golf world is currently clamoring about 21-year-old Jackson Koivun. After attending Auburn University and putting together one of the greatest college golf careers of all time, the young golfer decided to turn pro, and this past weekend, he won the third ever PGA Tour event he had ever been a part of.
No, it wasn’t beginner’s luck. Koivun is just that good.
Many golf fans and casual golf followers found that out on Saturday (often referred to as “Moving Day” during golf tournaments), when the former Auburn star absolutely pummeled a 3-wood 305 yards on his way to making an eagle. It was undoubtedly the shot of the tournament, and for my money, it’s one of the best of the entire year.

Once he knocked that eagle putt in, he was the leader of the 3M Open (what were you doing when you were 21-years-old?).
That was his “I’m here” moment on the PGA Tour, and he rode that momentum all the way to a victory on Sunday. He held off the No. 1 golfer in the world – Scottie Scheffler – and took home winnings that exceeded $1 million. All in all, it was a great weekend for Koivun, and it was made that much better by the way he chose to unwind after the tournament.
There are plenty of ponds and bodies of water out on golf courses, and while golfers try their best to avoid them during play, you KNOW there are some big fish out there just waiting to nibble on a line. Koivun had that on his mind, and immediately after he won the 3M Open and announced himself to the world, he went fishing in the pond by the 18th green:

Though we don’t know if he was successful in his fishing efforts, the young golfer had a great day no matter what. Any weekend where you can make over $1 million at the age of 21 is a great weekend (needless to say), and soaking it all up by fishing the pond right next to the green where you secured your first ever PGA Tour victory? That’s what you call a dream come true.
And it’s also something that not many people get to do. The TPC Twin Cities, where the 3M Open takes place, is very strict about fishing on their course. They even have signs up that let fishermen and fisherwomen know that fishing on TPC property is considered trespassing.

They’ll need to add “champions are welcomed” next to the “violators will be removed and prosecuted” portion of the sign.
What a day for Koivun. At just 21-years-old, he’s a PGA Tour champion. That’s a rare feat, and I also have to point out… if Jackson also managed to drink and hunt on the day he won the 3M Open, he could claim that he went for the “Luke Bryan cycle.”
