Comedian and actor Larry the Cable Guy is recovering and sharing an update with fans after being rushed to the hospital following a recent health scare.
Larry the Cable Guy, whose real name is Daniel Lawrence Whitney, was hospitalized on Thursday, July 23rd in Lincoln, Nebraska and later diagnosed with appendicitis. He was ultimately discharged on Saturday, and shared an update with fans yesterday after TMZ broke the news of his illness.
According to Whitney, he began experiencing “major stomach pain” before being taken to the hospital – and ultimately having his appendix removed:
Getting a lot of messages so just to let ya know I’m all good. I had major stomach pain and turns out I had appendicitis. It was removed and after 2 days in the hospital I’m home and recovering.”
And in his typical comedic fashion, he also shared an update on his recovery:
“Pretty sore but vitals good, my butt looks fantastic and now just taking stool softeners which is giving me an urge to go to my mom’s assisted living facility and play bingo with the gals. I appreciate all the nice notes. I don’t know who ratted me out down there but this is the most press I’ve received since we announced lightning racers on Disney Jr coming in September! Love all ya’all”
Larry the Cable Guy is, of course, best known for his time on the Blue Collar Comedy Tour alongside fellow comedians Jeff Foxworthy, Bill Engvall and Ron White. He also served as the voice of Mater in the Cars movies, and has even appeared in an uncredited role in the hit Taylor Sheridan series Yellowstone. Meanwhile, the comedic actor has also starred in several movies of his own including Larry the Cable Guy: Health Inspector and Delta Force.
He’s currently working on a new series called American Mayhem, a comedy clip show series on CBS where “comedian Larry The Cable Guy brings his signature heartland humor to a fast-paced collection of the funniest and most relatable clips from across the country.”
Speaking on the new show, Whitney (or Larry the Cable Guy) said the America’s Funniest Videos-style show will highlight “situations that go off the rails.”
“Situations that go off the rails have always been prime entertainment, (as long as it’s not you!) and my new show American Mayhem is just that: a laugh a minute while you wipe yer eyes safely at home! (Don’t worry no one got bad hurt except you may pull a stomach muscle!).”
The show is scheduled to premiere this fall.
Production on the show had to be temporarily paused during the host’s hospitalization, but it sounds like he’s on the mend and will hopefully be back at work soon.
