FINALLY.
Four years since his last full-length project, Oklahoma native Josh Meloy has released his 3rd studio album today, affectionately titled Where You Came From.
Last summer, Josh Meloy told social media that we would get an album by the end of 2023, noting that he had also finished recording the record. However, we never got an album and would wait a year before the project saw the light of day.
Over the next year, fans would hear snippets of songs that would hopefully appear on the album until we got his first single since 2022, “1,000 Miles,” earlier this year. While the wait was long, Meloy proved to fans it was well worth it today, releasing the rest of Where You Came From.

Being able to hear many of the Easter egg teasers that Meloy shared over social media in full is the best way to end the week. From “Backroads” to “Striking Out,” listeners will hear Meloy’s raspy yet addicting vocals accompanied by his authentic songwriting. The album’s messaging covers various feelings like love and loss, navigating life on the road chasing a dream while missing loved ones and babies at home, and just some good ol’ twangers.
This record is a no-skip album for me; each song is worth a listen and highlights a different facet of his sound. After listening to it, I am formally letting go of my grudge against Meloy for holding out on us for a year with the record because it exceeds expectations.
