The girls are not happy about this…
Riley Green is gearing up to release his new album That’s Just Me this Friday, September 18th, and ahead of the big drop, he played a private show for fans in Los Angeles this week which was hosted by Spotify, where he ran through fan-favorites as well as debuting one he’s said is a favorite, “Lookout Mountain.”
Riley has several features on the album, as the aforementioned “Lookout Mountain” which features Randy Owen of Alabama, as well as Hannah McFarland, Jake Worthington, and the song I’m most excited to hear, “Pave All Them Dirt Roads” with Brooks & Dunn.
Riley has always been a rare mainstream artist who sticks to that decidedly country sound. And even with his massive success, he tries to always include songs about his life in “small town Alabama” and things like that, which he’s written about since the beginning and will be another focal point of this tracklist:
“Every year that things are going well and it grows and things get bigger, I always tend to make sure I find a way to write from that same place that got me here. Which is just small town Alabama where I grew up.
So I always try to go home and write, at least four or five songs that are going to be on every record from that mindset of just how I grew up and my family values, like I said, things I wrote about from the beginning.”
And during the Spotify show, fans noticed Riley was looking a little bit different… because he shaved off his signature mustache.
We all know Riley is a fan-favorite among the ladies, and they LOVE his mustache, so it was quite a shock to see him without much facial hair because it’s been a long time since he’s had that look:
@daniellemashal I repeat!!!! Riley Green’s mustache is no more! — #rileygreen #stagecoach ♬ original sound – Danielle Mashal
And let’s just say, the girls in the comments section were not too happy with him…
“Put it back.”
“I don’t like that.”
“‘Boots on the ground journalism’ sent me.”
“NOOOO I see him tomorrow.”
“Honestly would have asked for ALL my money back.”
“I blame Albuquerque.”
“Phew he had it in Denver last week!”
“Mad as hell now.”
“Ladies it’ll grow back.”
“Why is he so mean to us.”
“OMG. He doesn’t even look the same … grow it back Riley!!!”
“‘Ron your mustache fell off.'”
“I’m seeing him on Saturday and it BETTER be somewhat back.”
“He just lost like 4 points.”
“A soldier has fallen.”
“Put it back… idk what else to say.”
I have to imagine this is just a temporary change and he plans to grow it back because it’s part of his signature look at this point… Riley is basically synonymous with his mustache now, and I think it needs to stay that way.
All of the pre-released songs from That’s Just Me have been great, and this coming Monday, just days after the album release, Riley will make his debut as a judge on The Voice.
