Wild animals often have the “best seat in the house” for natural events and phenomenons.
You’ve probably seen the dozens of viral videos of a meteor flashing through the sky in Portugal and Spain. The speed that it entered into Earth’s atmosphere is estimated to be around 100,000 miles per hour, and in stunning fashion, the space rock lit up the night sky in an eerie blue hue as it crashed down to the ground.
Most meteors that make it to Earth are rather finite once they get through the atmosphere. It’s estimated that 17,000 meteors hit the planet every year, and we just don’t normally see them like citizens in Portugal and Spain got to see this one. And when I say citizens, I mean both humans and animals that witnessed the out-of-this-world event.
Which brings us to this video, and to be frank, it might be my favorite video of all time. That might be recency bias talking, obviously, but it’s not every day that you get to see footage of geese viewing a bright blue meteor plummeting down through the atmosphere. You probably didn’t think you needed to see how geese would react to seeing a meteor. Once you watch this though, you’ll change your mind.

It’s great seeing the world through the perspective of a goose. They admired the meteor, wondered “What the heck was that?” then immediately resumed their regularly scheduled geese activities.
Everyone that viewed the clip on X (formerly known as Twitter) fell in love with the geese and their reactions, and left some funny observations in the reply section below the post:
They are like what the hell is happening now 🙄🙄

I like how it looked in the camera right after and was like “did you fing see that?”

The small amount of dinosaur genes still inside them must have been freaking out.
